„A SCHOOL DESIGNED FOR YOU“

PROJECT AS RESULT OF SYNERGY BETWEEN EUROBANK AND ITS CLIENTS

Jana Novaković, a student of the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Niš, has won the competition to design the affinity Mastercard credit card “Eurobank Big Heart”

Since the establishment in Serbia in 2003, Eurobank has constantly combined a strategy of dynamic and successful growth with contribution to the community where it operates. In October 2018, supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Eurobank launched its first standalone CSR project, “A School Designed for You”. Jana Novaković, a student of the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Niš, has won the competition to design the affinity Mastercard credit card “Eurobank Big Heart”. A specific feature of this card is that the Bank earmarks a portion of its proceeds and redirects them for equipping classrooms and workrooms of schools of economics across Serbia. In this manner, joint efforts of the Bank and its clients help improve the studying and working conditions in secondary schools of economics.

The first donation, worth 1.4 million dinars, was executed in June 2019, at the First Secondary School of Economics in Belgrade. Owing to the funds raised via the “Eurobank Big Heart” humanitarian credit card, the students got a new, equipped classroom for statistics and accounting. The project was continued and, in November 2019, in the presence of representatives of Eurobank, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, school principal, teachers and students, a new electronic language laboratory was opened at the “Stana Milanović“ School of Economics in Šabac and the school library was equipped with laptops, providing students with an opportunity to read e-books. The value of this donation exceeds one million dinars. The third donation within Eurobank’s “School Designed for You” humanitarian project was executed in February 2020, at the “Bosa Milićević“ Secondary School of Economics in Subotica. More than 1.2 million dinars was invested in modernising the virtual bank classroom, and new IT equipment was particularly beneficial for students of the “Banking and Insurance Clerk” educational profile, as it enabled them to actively improve their knowledge in a high-quality manner and in real-life circumstances.

According to Slavica Pavlović, President of the Executive Board of Eurobank, the “School Designed for You” CSR project was launched in the aim of providing secondary schools of economics across Serbia with better studying and working conditions. In addition to donating necessary IT equipment, Eurobank also supports students in the area of professional development through internship in its branches and lectures on relevant banking topics by its employees as visiting lecturers in schools.

In addition to the donations in classroom, workroom and IT equipment, the “School Designed for You” project has another very significant component. Through lectures of Eurobank employees, students of secondary economics schools gain new theoretical and practical knowledge about banking. In this manner, the Bank shares common interests and values in the area of development and enhancement of both secondary school education and education as a whole.

Within the Memorandum signed between Eurobank and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, another example of socially beneficial collaboration was initiated, focusing on developing and enhancing secondary education at the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

Eurobank is particularly grateful to its clients, users of the “Eurobank Big Heart” MasterCard humanitarian credit card, who have recognised the importance of this project and made significant contribution to its execution and success.
