Belgrade, a historic line for Air France

The opening of the Paris-Belgrade line by the French-Romanian (1922)

Created in April 1920, The French-Romanian Company for Air Transport is positioned on Eastern Europe. It extends its original Paris-Strasbourg axis (opened in September 1920) towards the East: Prague (October 1920), Warsaw (April 1921), then Vienna and Budapest (May 1922).

On September 21, 1922, the line is first extended to Belgrade and Bucharest and then onto Constantinople. Its instigators call it “the longest European airline”. For the first time, Paris and Belgrade are connected by air! A year later, the route is operated daily in Potez 7.

In 1925, the French-Romanian becomes the CIDNA (The International Air Navigation Company), one of the five companies constituting the unique company Air France in 1933.
