Ashot Hovakimian, the Ambassador of Armenia to Prague, who is also accredited to Serbia, will participate in the Euronews Adria Summit at the Palace of Serbia on November 12. We spoke with him about the topics that will be discussed during the Ambassadorial Panel in which he will take part

How do you view the current state of bilateral relations between your country and Serbia?
Armenia and Serbia enjoy a long-standing tradition of friendship, rooted in shared historical experiences and a deep sense of mutual understanding that has withstood the test of time. Our bilateral relations remain warm, though there is ample room for broadening cooperation across multiple areas. What matters most for strengthening this partnership is maintaining genuine sensitivity to each other’s national priorities and core interests. In this context, we hope that Serbia, along with other partners, will unequivocally support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, a step that we deeply value.

Do you expect normalization of the situation in the world’s two current major crisis hotspots – Ukraine and Gaza by the end of the year?
Armenia has consistently supported a two-state solution as the only viable path toward lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, and welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which ensures the release of hostages and prisoners and allows unrestricted humanitarian access. We highly value the mediation efforts of the countries that helped make this possible, as well as President Trump’s personal contribution to advancing peace. Armenia had the honor to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and stands ready to continue working with partners to promote regional stability. Regarding Ukraine, Armenia hopes that the conflict will be resolved through diplomatic dialogue based on mutually acceptable solutions, and supports the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
