Successfully Held BookTalk 2025

The BookTalk 2025 conference was successfully held on October 3–4 at the Matica Srpska Gallery in Novi Sad, bringing together numerous authors, publishers, critics, and literary experts from Serbia and the region

For the past ten years, BookTalk has been an important gathering place for literature enthusiasts, a space for exchanging ideas, and a forum for addressing topics relevant to the contemporary literary scene.

The first day of the program was officially opened by Tijana Palkovljević, Director of the Matica Srpska Gallery, who emphasized the importance of nurturing a culture of reading and strengthening literary events in Novi Sad.

Following the opening ceremony, the traditional publishers’ panel took place, followed by discussions on Teofil Pančić’s work, literary debuts by authors who are not professional writers, and the popularity of self-help literature.

On the first day, the audience also had the opportunity to attend a one-on-one conversation with Nedžad Ibrahimović, as well as a panel dedicated to the question of whether literature can change the world. The day concluded with a guided tour of Lazar Vozarević’s exhibition and a cocktail reception at the Gallery.

On the second day, the program was opened by Zoltan Kudlik, Assistant Secretary for Culture in the Department for the Culture of National Minorities – National Communities, who highlighted the importance of intercultural dialogue and literary collaboration.

The audience then attended discussions on contemporary Hungarian literature in Vojvodina and the role of literary podcasts, with a particularly engaging conversation between Duško Ljuština and Boris Rašeta.

Over the two days, the program attracted a large number of visitors, and the diverse topics, current guests, and high-quality discussions once again confirmed why BookTalk holds an important place in the region’s cultural scene.
