The exhibition of photographs “Tron” by Pavel Surovi from Kisač opened in Beijing in the new Museum at Peking Union University

The exhibition was organized in cooperation with Peking Union University and the University of Novi Sad, as well as the Kisač Cultural Center and the Association for Cultural Exchange of Serbia and China. The Tron exhibition by Pavel Surovi aims to further deepen the exchange and cooperation between China and Serbia in the field of culture and art and improve understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The exhibition will last a month, and through the unique photographic perspective and vision of Pavel Surovi, which unites folk costumes of different peoples, it shows the social and cultural peculiarities of Serbia.

First, the artist Pavel Surovi was received by the secretary of the party committee of all universities in Beijing, Chu Guoqing, who is also the rector of Peking Union University. As he pointed out, this is the third meeting with the artist Pavel Surovi, we met twice in Serbia in Novi Sad at Pavel’s exhibition and in the Kisač Cultural Center. He is pleased that the cooperation between China and Serbia is at a high level and that the two brotherly countries are cooperating intensively. The exhibition of fantastic photographs by the artist Pavel Surovi in Beijing is a great contribution to cultural cooperation between China and Serbia.

High-ranking representatives from several universities in Beijing praised the pioneering work and high quality of the artistic works of photographs that combine the folk costumes of Serbia and their interpretation, as well as the energetic and youthful temperament of the artist and photographer Pavel Surovi. As they stated at the exhibition, Pavel Surovi is an artist who does not stay in the comfort zone of creativity, but constantly imposes high standards in art, recognizes the needs of the market, thus making his art alive, inspired by youth and passion.
At the opening ceremony, Chang Hongmei, vice president of Peking Union University, warmly welcomed Serbian friends who came from far away. She said that holding this photo exhibition is another significant achievement of the cooperation between the two universities and a vivid depiction of the cultural and artistic exchange between China and Serbia. Wang He, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Arts of Peking Union University, Professor Marina Madjarev, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, and Pavel Surovi, a Serbian artist and fashion photographer, then spoke.

In his speech, Wang He expressed great attention to the artistic exchange between China and Serbia, emphasized the significant role of art in promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries, and expressed full expectation for the successful holding of this exhibition. Professor Marina Madjarev elaborated on the importance of cooperation between the two universities from a Serbian perspective, thanked the Peking Union University for the warm reception and presented the artistic achievements of Pavel Surovi and the characteristics of the works in this exhibition.

In his speech, Pavel Surovi conveyed his creative ideas and artistic experiences, expressed his love for the cultural and artistic exchange between China and Serbia, and sent friendly greetings to the Chinese audience. He also highlighted the fruitful economic cooperation at the state level, which Chinese President Xi Jinping and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić are responsible for, which was followed by applause.

The exhibition was opened in the new beautiful reconstructed museum and Peking Union University. For me, this is a magical moment in my career. Today is a special day that the most awarded project “Tron”, which also opens the title of European Capital of Culture – Novi Sad in 2022, it will be shown to the Chinese audience in Beijing. I gave two lectures for art students in Beijing, “Ethno heritage and its application in art, photography and fashion.” I am happy that such a great nation craves knowledge and listens carefully to the world.
