The Italian Embassy in Belgrade organized a reception at the Ambassador’s Residence on the occasion of the Giornata dell’Unità Nazionale e delle Forze Armate (National Unity and Armed Forces Day), which is celebrated annually on November 4.

During the official ceremony, Ambassador of Italy to Serbia Luca Gori and the military attaché, Colonel Aurelio Costa, laid a wreath at the Italian Military Cemetery (Cimitero Militare Italiano) in memory of Italian soldiers who fell in the Balkans during World War I. In his remarks at the wreath-laying, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of preserving peace and memory in times of current international tensions.

The reception at the Italian Embassy was attended by members of the diplomatic corps in Belgrade, representatives of Serbian state and military institutions, as well as local authorities and the academic community, including students of the Italian language. Tatjana Macura, Minister without Portfolio responsible for gender equality, prevention of violence against women, and the economic and political empowerment of women, was also present.

The Embassy emphasized that the event provided an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and to reflect on shared history and values.
