“Laza Telečki Day” was successfully held at Laza’s Salaš on Wednesday, December 3, at 4 p.m. The program was dedicated to one of the most significant Serbian actors and directors of the Serbian National Theatre, and a prominent figure in the cultural history of Novi Sad

The central part of the event was a panel discussion on the life and work of Laza Telečki, featuring Vesna Farkaš as moderator, Zoran Subotički, Master of Literary Studies, Čarna Milinković, Director of the Museum of Vojvodina, and actor Ivan Petrušinski. Through their conversation, the participants highlighted lesser-known aspects of Telečki’s creative work, his contribution to the development of Serbian theatre, as well as the lasting importance of his name in the cultural identity of the city.

The event also included a specially prepared exhibition segment with materials that showcased key moments from the life and career of Laza Telečki, giving visitors a deeper insight into his work and the era in which he lived.

Laza Telečki came from a poor family and, despite difficult circumstances, showed remarkable persistence and talent from an early age. He was educated in several cities, worked as a scribe for Svetozar Miletić, and became one of the most distinguished members of the Serbian National Theatre. Growing up in modest conditions, exposure to various cultural environments, and his strong dedication to art shaped him into an actor whose legacy remains deeply rooted in the history of Serbian theatre.
The entire program was recorded and will be available on the Color Media Communications YouTube channel to ensure that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to learn about the life, work, and cultural significance of Laza Telečki.

The event was organized with the aim of renewing interest—especially among younger generations—in the life and achievements of Laza Telečki and highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

“Laza Telečki Day” was organized by the citizens’ association The Best Fest, with financial support from the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information and Relations with Religious Communities, and the City Administration for Culture of the City of Novi Sad.
