When French chanson is sung at a Serbian address, and a Lebanese artist stands on the stage of a Belgrade salon, we realize how much greater music is than geography

At the Guarnerius Center for Fine Arts, with the support of the Embassy of Lebanon, we felt the magic of Ghassan Yammine’s voice and the piano elegance of French pianist Guillaume Vincent, in an evening dedicated to Aznavour, Bécaud, Piaf, Montand, Brel, and songs that are never forgotten.

Two concerts were sold out long before the lights dimmed in the hall, a quiet proof that Belgrade still protects its romantic heart — and that there is always too little space for a truly good song. As stories of love, lost cities, and secret Parisian nights unfolded on stage, Guarnerius became a small French cabaret on the Danube, and the audience a part of a warmer, gentler image of the world.
