The President of the City Assembly, Nikola Nikodijević, the Ambassador of Mexico, Carlos Félix Corona, and the Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dačić, formally unveiled the sign bearing the name of Mexico Street, located in Belgrade Waterfront

Nikodijević stated on this occasion that Mexico Street represents a new name on the map of Belgrade, but also a new symbol of friendship and cooperation between two nations thousands of kilometers apart, yet connected by the same values: freedom, justice, and dignity.
The President of the Belgrade City Assembly emphasized that Mexico is a country of rich history, culture, liberty, and tradition, a country that has always shown goodwill toward Serbia and the Serbian people, from international forums and cultural cooperation to sincere support during the most difficult moments for our nation.

Nikodijević thanked the entire Embassy of Mexico for its initiative and continuous contribution to strengthening bilateral relations.
The Ambassador of Mexico, Carlos Félix Corona, said that today is a historic day for the relations between Mexico and Serbia, especially for the citizens of Belgrade.
“This honorable naming of a street in this beautiful city, which will bear the name Mexico Street, is a powerful symbol that reflects the strong bond between the peoples and governments of our two countries. It is an act of great kindness and generosity by the Belgrade City Assembly toward Mexico, and it represents a historic legacy that will continue to strengthen the relations between our nations and future generations. This friendship has been built for more than eight decades, thanks to many Mexicans and Serbs who have worked with dedication to bring our peoples and governments closer in various fields,” Ambassador Corona said.

He recalled that he first lived in Belgrade with his family from 1991 to 1994, sharing difficult moments with the people of Belgrade.
“During that difficult period, Mexico kept the doors of its embassy open as a sign of solidarity with the Serbian people and expressed support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the province of Kosovo and Metohija. Over the past four years, we have again shared a city that is peaceful, full of hope, and still fighting for a better present and future,” the ambassador said, expressing gratitude to City Assembly President Nikola Nikodijević and Minister Ivica Dačić for their cooperation.
The Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dačić, said he was honored to attend the opening of Mexico Street in Belgrade Waterfront on behalf of the Government of Serbia, noting that it is yet another concrete step connecting two countries with a long tradition of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation.

“Next year, Serbia and Mexico will mark 80 years of diplomatic relations — eight decades of cooperation, understanding, and mutual appreciation, which is a unique example of continuity in a world that is changing faster than ever. That is why this street is a tribute to the decades-long friendship and partnership that shaped our relations,” Dačić emphasized.
