The Embassy of Egypt Celebrated Armed Forces Day in Belgrade

The Embassy of Egypt organized a ceremony in Belgrade on October 6 to mark the 52nd anniversary of the October 6 Victory and Egypt’s Armed Forces Day

This day is celebrated in Egypt in remembrance of the beginning of the Yom Kippur War in 1973, when the Egyptian Armed Forces crossed the Suez Canal and regained part of the Sinai Peninsula. The event became a symbol of national pride, courage, and the dignity of the Egyptian people.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Salama Soliman, Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia, Brigadier General Novica Gogić, Deputy Commander of the Serbian Air Force, numerous ambassadors, military attachés, and representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia.

In his address, Colonel Ali Taher, Defense Attaché at the Embassy of Egypt, emphasized that the October Victory will forever remain a symbol of the strength and unity of the Egyptian people, as well as a testament to the deep friendship and cooperation between Egypt and Serbia that has lasted for more than 118 years.

He stated in his speech:

It is а great pleasure and honor today, on the anniversary of glorious days immortalized in the conscience of the Egyptian people, to extend to you my thanks and appreciation for your presence and participation in our celebration of the 52nd anniversary of the glorious October Victory, which restored Egypt’s dignity, the people’s pride, and the Egyptian military’s grandeur.

This victory will remain throughout history a reflection of the greatness of a people and the pride of a nation. Its battles will remain a symbol of the glory of the Egyptian military and its ability to achieve a great military accomplishment despite the challenges. The great Egyptian people had full confidence in the ability of their armed forces to achieve victory and to restore land and dignity.

А salute of reverence to the October generation of the Armed Forces, who restored to the homeland , its land and its dignity, with their determination, courage, heroism, and ability to overcome the impossible.

A salute of veneration to the souls of our righteous martyrs, who gave their lives sacrificing for the homeland, its dignity, and its pride. A salute, as well, to the decision-maker of war, the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, who made his decision with confidence in God, the people, and the ability of the Armed Forces to achieve victory and defeat the aggressors.

The members of the Armed Forces are sons of that great people, who contributed to making its glory and who still safeguard its strength. Their efforts have continued to eradicate terrorism and uproot it inside the homeland and beyond its borders if required, in order to preserve national security and protect our sacred homeland at any time and place. The cohesion of the Egyptian people with their Armed Forces continues in defense of the nation’s resources in light of difficult regional and international circumstances.

Egypt has proud Armed Forces that remain ever vigilant and capable under all conditions, able to reach the furthest range in the shortest time to secure Egyptian interests in the face of all current challenges and threats, and to deter anyone who may attempt to cross the red lines drawn by the Egyptian state.

Egypt, which fought and regained its land, is the same Egypt that always seeks to achieve peace. Egypt has never sought wars or conflicts to achieve illegitimate ambitions or to seize, without right, the possessions and resources of others, but always strives to extend bridges of cooperation as a solid approach to achieve prosperity, construction, and development.

In recent years, Egypt has witnessed an enormous transformation across all sectors of development in the state, in the context of close cooperation and mutual respect for the rights of neighboring states to live in security. The manifestations of prosperity in Egypt also include massive economic projects, which restore Egypt to its leading position in the region, in cooperation with its brothers and friends from Arab and foreign countries.

What has been achieved in terms of supporting the common interests between our two countries, within a short period of intensive work in all fields of military cooperation, was founded on firm principles and foundations based on our shared desire to promote the culture of peace and to confront the forces of violence and extremism that our region has witnessed in recent times.

There is no doubt that the challenges we are witnessing, as a result of ongoing interactions in the security environment of the Middle East, push us to act responsibly towards common issues, in order to restore regional security and stability, and to achieve the requirements of security in its comprehensive sense, without overlooking the particularities of societies and peoples, and rejecting the principle of interference in the internal affairs of states under any pretexts.
