The Algerian Embassy in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Association of Friends of Algeria and the College of Tourism, hosted an event on the potentials of Algeria as a tourist destination and the measures taken by the Government of Algeria to develop the tourism sector.
The Algerian Ambassador to Belgrade, Mr. Abdelhamid Chebchoub presented to an audience of over 300, representatives of tour operators, travel agencies, specialized media and the diplomatic corps accredited in Serbia, as well as the students of the College of Tourism.
The Ambassador spoke about the history of Algeria, going back several thousand years. It is a country on the Mediterranean and with roots in Africa, acrossroadsof many civilizations that have enriched its cultural and historical heritage.
The Ambassador pointed out that, thanks to itspast, its vast territory, a diversity of climate zones, an authentic culture and a rich culinary tradition, Algeria can cater foreveryone.
He spoke about the key principles of the Tourism development master plan « SDAT » 2030,a strategic reference framework for the policy of Algeria in this sector.
The audience had the opportunity to discover Algeria through the screening of the documentary: “Algeria, a country with many faces”, as well as through a photo exhibition of the main tourist sites in the country.
Truly fascinated by what they saw, the majority of those present at the event admitted during the debate that followed,that they have discovered for the first time, the beauty and the treasures of Algeria as a tourist destination.
Operators working in the tourism industry have also expressed an interest in establishing business relations with Algerian counterparts to organize tourist visits both ways.
