COLOURS OF MALAYSIA 2018

The Colours of Malaysia 2018, a five-day event organised by the Embassy of Malaysia in Belgrade to showcase Malaysian culture through its art and cuisine as well as to promote inter-cultural exchange between Malaysia and Serbia, took off with the Batik Painting Workshop and Naïve Art Presentation held on 25 September 2018 at the Radisson Collection Hotel, Old Mill Belgrade.

The workshop featured the presentation and practical demonstration of the traditional art of Malaysian Batik (hand painting on silk). The presentation of the traditional Malaysian Batik was conducted by the spouse of the Head of the Malaysian Embassy in Belgrade Mrs. Nur Azlina Adinan and the practical demonstration on the Batik painting was conducted by the Serbian textile painter Ms. Srna Subanovic.

The introduction to the naïve art was conducted in collaboration with the Gallery of Naïve Art from Kovacica, whose Director and Chief Curator Mrs. Ana Zolnaj Barca opened the painting exhibition by the Malaysian naïve painter Datin Eliza Tajuddin.

From 25 to 29 September 2018, visitors of the Colours of Malaysia 2018 will also be presented with the unique opportunity to savour authentic traditional Malaysian food buffets and experience the beauty of the Malaysian culture through the naïve painting exhibition, displays of traditional Malaysian crafts and traditional dance performances by the Embassy’s cultural troupe “Chenderawasih”.
