Igor Milenković, Director, Fruit & Vegetables, Delta Agrar: We are facing many challenges that we are able to overcome

We monitor and harmonize our work and business processes with the current circumstances on a daily basis so that our business runs as smoothly as possible.

“In the previous period, we have increased domestic sales, while in terms of export, and in addition to Russia which is our main export market, the demand for our apples in the EU, the UK and the UAE has been growing recently. Hence, we are doing our utmost to respond to the demands of all our clients,“ says Igor Milenković, Director of the Fruit & Vegetables Department at Delta Agrar, and adds that the company’s sales activities have been going smoothly.

How did you organize your business activities?

My colleagues and I at Delta Agrar have been monitoring and harmonizing our work and business processes with the current circumstances on a daily basis so that our business runs as smoothly as possible. We are organized in such a way that any employee that can work from home, does so. As for the production staff, the key emphasis is on strict adherence to all hygiene and other protection and prevention measures. Our staff works in shifts, measuring body temperature is mandatory for all employees and visitors and we have additional desinfection barriers.

Just like most companies, we are also facing numerous challenges that we are managing to overcome so that our sales activities run smoothly. During this period, we are all taking more care of our health and increasing the intake of vitamins also through consuming fruits and vegetables, which is directly reflected in our work. In the previous period, we have increased domestic sales, while in terms of export, and in addition to Russia which is our main export market, the demand for our apples in the EU, the UK and the UAE has been growing recently. Hence, we are doing our utmost to respond to the demands of all our clients.

How do you spend your private time during the pandemic?

Even though I was a little scared in the beginning of what awaited us all, I am doing well in isolation so far. I spend my free time with my girlfriend and we are both working to make the most out of this situation, and dealing with it in a productive way, by eating healthier and exercising. Besides, I am trying to perfect some of my lesser known talents, but also discover new ones. I came to the conclusion that I am actually quite a good cook. Occasionally, I reverse to my childhood and play a game of football on the Play Station. The evenings are mostly reserved for a classic movie or a good book. I try to spend time in a bright and positive spirit.

What will you do first after the state of emergency is abolished?

Although, I live and work in Belgrade, I was born in Niš, so the first thing I am going to do once the state of emergency is over is visit my hometown. I miss my parents and my mum’s cooking, as well as time spent with my childhood friends. Most of them live and work in other towns, so we usually gather in one of the popular cafe bars in Niš several times a year, eat the famous southern specialties, give ourselves a little breather and thus escape our daily routine.
