Jewish Center “Habad Serbia” celebrated Hanukkah’s holiday

The Jewish Center “Habad Serbia” organized a celebration of the holiday of Hanukkah at the Hilton hotel in Belgrade tonight.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Israel in Belgrade Alon Fischer Kam, Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Nenad Popovic, representatives of the Jewish community and numerous guests, the statement said.

Recalling the symbolism of the holiday of Hanukkah, the ambassador of Israel pointed out that he was carrying a universal message close to all people – about the victory of good over evil and light over darkness.

Rabin Habad center Yoshousu Kaminecki said that the basic message of the Jewish holiday of light is not to light candles at home, but that people have to light up the environment and give light to others.

“Giving is the taste of life – the more we give, the more we take for ourselves. So we make the world a better place, “Kaminecki said.

In accordance with the traditional custom of the third day of Hanukkah, the three candles on the Hanukki priest were lit by representatives of the Jewish community, while Minister Nenad Popovic was on the fourth, central meeting, congratulating the guests on the holiday.

The eight-day celebration of Hanukkah, one of the richest Jewish holidays, began this year on December 2. Jews around the world celebrate the feast of light and freedom in memory of the victorious rebellion from the 164th year before the new era, when, after three years of fighting against the forces of the Hellenistic leader, Antiochus IV, they managed to restore and renew the Jerusalem Temple.
