Trying to Preserve a Solid Social Base for Refugees

Michael Saint-Lot, UNICEF Director in Belgrade, speaks about the importance of solidarity during the migrant crisis

We need to provide refugees with access to education, access to health protection and access to social protection. We need to provide all material for primary and secondary schools from the countries of origins of the refugees. By so doing we can make a strong social base for children from Afghanistan, Syria and elsewhere, and they can continue their education in their own language and culture. We also need to know how many teachers are among the refugees, since Serbia does not have enough teachers in Arabic or Farsi (Dari). We also need to overcome the existing shortage of vaccines in Serbia at present.
