CITY OF BELGRADE GOT 25 NEW BUSES WITH EURO VI MOTOR

Company Arriva Litas, part of Deutsche Bahn, a global leader of transport and logistics services, has expanded its fleet in Belgrade and introduced 25 new buses with the latest generation of EURO VI vehicles in the city traffic. New vehicles were presented at a ceremony held in the business unit of Arriva Litas in Belgrade, in the presence of a large number of guests.

Modern equipped buses will operate on public transport lines in Belgrade, and they are characterized by diesel engines that enable the reduction of NOx emissions to 67% compared to the EURO V engine, contributing to the control of fuel consumption at the same time. In this way, besides safe and comfortable passenger transport, public urban transport in the capital will also get on sustainability and economy.

EXPERIENCES IN THE WORLD: THE IMPORTANCE AND ADVANTAGES OF BUSES IN LOCAL URBAN TRANSPORT*

  • An independent survey by the coalition of Britain’s leading bus companies Greener Journeys has shown that the bus is a cleaner alternative to passenger cars, as one bus can replace 40 passenger cars in traffic.

  • The cause of poor air quality is combustion of gasoline and diesel, and reducing the number of vehicles on the streets would significantly contribute to the solution of this problem.

  • Buses are an irreplaceable part of the solution to the problems of traffic congestion in urban areas. Without buses, congestion in city centres would be 21% higher at the time of the rush hour.

The capacity of a single vehicle is 26 seating and 84 standing seats, followed by wheelchair ramp, which will make the entry of people with disabilities considerably easier. The buses are equipped with attractive exterior and interior, and modern air-conditioning systems and cameras, which increases the safety of passengers, while each entry and exit can be monitored by a driver on the control panel.

“As a company dedicated to improving the quality of passenger transport, we are constantly working on the needs of all users, with a focus on safety, environmental care and use of new technologies. After we have introduced the first vehicle with the EURO VI engine produced in Serbia, we continue to improve the quality of transport with the new 25 buses that feature the latest generation engines. In accordance with the global Arriva strategy Destination Green, whose goal is saving resources in 4 segments – water, fuel, waste and energy, growing of a fleet in Serbia also contributes to preserving the environment and improving the quality of life of citizens“, stated Dejan Bogunovic, General Manager of company Arriva Litas, adding that 20% of Arriva fleet has EURO VI vehicles.

The newly equipped buses are produced by Temsa Avenue LF (low floor) 8, a leading Turkish manufacturer, who is present in Serbia since 2006 and is represented by Masinopromet. The company offered the best conditions through the tender.

The updated Arriva fleet will enable the modernization of the work process in the public urban transport system, providing safe, precise transport and high quality services for all passengers.
