Donation by Carlsberg Serbia to the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad

Mini brewery for future technology engineers

In order to improve educational and scientific work of the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad, Carlsberg Serbia has donated a mini brewery, which will now give students of this prestigious faculty a better insight into the entire brewing process. In the presence of significant number of republic and provincial government officials, the Danish Embassy in Serbia, educational and scientific institutions and local government, the mini brewery was inaugurated by Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Šarčević and Carlsberg Serbia CEO Vladimir Vava.

“With the donation of a mini brewery to the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad we continue our long-standing cooperation with this educational institution and strive to enable future professionals in the beer industry to acquire practical knowledge during their education that they will be able to apply later in their work. Support for science and education is the focus of our socially responsible projects and we will continue to pursue such activities”, said Vladimir Vava, CEO of Carlsberg Serbia.


Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Šarčević said that the mini brewery will further strengthen the existing research infrastructure and enable the further development of the Faculty of Technology in this important area.

„Carlsberg Serbia has donated this mini brewery to the Faculty of Technology of the University of Novi Sad for teaching and research purposes. The mini brewery will also enable intensive collaboration between faculty and the beer industry. This is an excellent example of a public-private partnership on the one hand, and a great basis for development of dual higher education in this area, on the other“, said Šarčević.


He said that Carlsberg Dundjerski Foundation recognized the Faculty of Technology as an institution that educates quality staff, which is why they award scholarships to the best students of the II, III and IV year of basic and master academic studies in the field of Food Biotechnology since 2015. The Minister reminded that beer production technology has been studied at the Faculty of Technology, University of Novi Sad since 1959, when it was founded.


The Mini Brewery will allow students to work on individual devices as well as the entire brewing process after acquiring theoretical knowledge within subjects Beer Technology, Special Beer Technology, Alternative Raw Materials in Beer Production and Quality Control in Malt and Beer Technologies. The capacity is 60 liters.
In addition to the donation of mini brewery, Carlsberg Serbia contributes to the work of Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad by professional practice that provides for students. Thanks to the application of theoretical knowledge in practice, as well as the acquisition of different skills during practice, after graduation students get hired easier and faster and advance in their careers.
