Lachezar Rubchev, Managing Director GEFCO Serbia: The operations are going smoothly

We continue to serve our customers with the best possible and tailored solutions.

We spoke with Mr. Lachezar Rubchev, Managing Director GEFCO Serbia, about how the company organized its operations during the state of emergency and how he spends his private time during the pandemic. I organized one corner of apartment for my “office”, where I start my day at 9 AM, firstly having regular calls with my team and later on with my superiors. After that the regular business day is continuing.” Mr. Rubchev said.

How did you organize your business activities?

GEFCO is a company being always responsible for its employees – our biggest value. We are closely monitoring the situation from the really beginning. First in China, where we have strong activities, later on in Italy, one of our oldest subsidiary. We were receiving daily and weekly reports by our central HR team. Despite the fact we implemented in the office some delivery of sanitary materials and processes related to health protection of GEFCO Serbia’s employees,  I decided to organize home office set-up for the whole team since 13 of March. The operations are going smoothly – no any impact on our customers or suppliers, the administrative process are well managed and the people are staying safe at home. Good example could be the regular block-train we organized between Serbia, Belgrade and Montenegro, Bar. It really helps the business of our partners and customers, where the regular road transport is almost blocked in the times of Corona virus.

How are you spending your private time during the pandemic?

It was the biggest challenge for me. Being a person use to have dynamic life, the idea to stay home 24/7 was, let’s say, disturbing. For sure was not a question should I or not. In order to protect my family and the other people, I had no doubt, what I have to do. So, I organized one corner of apartment for my “office”, where I start my day at 9 AM, firstly having regular calls with my team and later on with my superiors. After that the regular business day is continuing. The second implemented change, was to buy some small fitness equipment in order to keep not only my brain in shape, but my body as well. Let me not forget some other tasks like, creating a list with missing products and schedule when and where to buy them – twice per week. All the rest of the time I am spending with my family – opportunity I didn’t had a lot of time.

What will you do first after the state of emergency is cancelled?

We continue to serve our customers with the best possible and tailored solutions. Maybe now is the time to thanks all of them for the understanding for the overall situation we are facing during executing our obligations. I believe there’s anybody who is not clearly understanding that the world will not be the same tomorrow. We at GEFCO, are following all economic and operational aspects, which we will face as a consequences of the COVID19 and making necessary conclusions. First I hope that this period will be as short as possible and we will go thru with no big casualties. Our team is keeping Infinite Proximity attitude and innovative way of thinking – part of our DNA. The day after the state of emergency will be cancelled, we will come back to our office stronger than before and full of energy for new victories. I truly believe, we will have much to share very soon.
