Reconstruction of the Sava Centre begins!

A comprehensive reconstruction of the Sava Congress Centre in Belgrade officially began. It is estimated that the works will last for close to two years, i.e. that the completely renovated Sava Centre will welcome its first guests in late 2023 or early 2024.

Since 2020, Sava Centre has been operating under Delta Holding, which had the best bid at the public tender launched by the Belgrade city administration.

“We will carry out a complete reconstruction, but will preserve the external appearance and all the features that are protected by the relevant institutions,” says Katarina Gajić, Design and Construction Director of design at Delta Real Estate, says and adds: “We will replace installations, equipment, glass and facade and introduce completely new multimedia and communication content. It is estimated that such an intervention will require at least 60 million euros, which we will provide through project financing, in cooperation with banks. About 1,000 workers will be engaged on the reconstruction works.”

When purchasing Sava Centre, its new owner undertook that it will keep its purpose and appearance.

“The renovated Sava Centre will have modern and attractive networking spaces, smaller halls for corporate gatherings and parallel sessions during large congresses. A business zone is planned too, as is a shopping zone with auxiliary facilities. The renovated centre will be an energy-efficient building, renovated in line with the latest safety and sustainability standards,“ says Kristina Mirosavljević, Director of the Sava Centre. She adds: “The goal is for Belgrade to have a contemporary, best in the region and globally recognizable congress centre, which the Sava Center has been since its inception.”

The reconstruction of the largest congress centre in the region has been entrusted to domestic companies. The general contractor will be the Jadran Company, Armont will be subcontractor, the supervision will be entrusted to the Zoling Company will supervise the works while Centroprojekt is in charge of the design.
