Stevan Jovićević, General Manager of Tahograf BG: The trucking industry must always work

Cooperation and solidarity are extremely important, especially within the transportation

We spoke withStevan Jovićević General Manager of Tahograf BG about their organisation during pandemic and state of emergency. „I’ve always been saying that the future lies in remote work. This situation made Tahograf BG put that claim to the test” said Mr. Jovićević

How did you organize your business activities and how do you communicate with clients?

I’ve always been saying that the future lies in remote work. This situation made Tahograf BG put that claim to the test. As we already have a couple of external associates working remotely, it wasn’t difficult to quickly arrange and install equipment in the homes of all other colleagues. We’ve also forwarded office calls to our cell phones and so far, communication with clients continues to run smoothly.

How important is it for companies to stand in solidarity and help in these extraordinary circumstances?

Cooperation and solidarity are extremely important, especially within the transportation, which is a vital part of every economy. Despite all the difficulties, the trucking industry must always work. How else would our food reach the retail; how would our medicines reach the pharmacies and therefore the citizens? Medical equipment must find its way to the hospitals, raw materials must get to factories, and all this relies on supported and well-organized transport of goods.

How do you spend your private time during the pandemic?

However bad it may be, one should try and make the best from each situation in life, and this is not the exception. That’s why I use my free time to spend quality moments with my family, to relax with a good book or movie, to take care of my nutrition and health in general. All those dear, ordinary, and useful little things we often tend to neglect due to the intensity of our work. I recently saw a movie The Irishman and I think this is a convenient occasion to quote the legendary and empowering Jimmy Hoffa, portrayed by Al Pacino: „If you got it, a truck brought it to you.

Which steps will you take first after the state of emergency is over?

We will return to the office, analyze the losses we had and create an action plan to compensate them. Since the state of emergency has brought us some derogations and exceptions to the Law on Working Hours of the Crew in Road Transport Vehicles and Tachographs, I expect Tahograf BG to enhance its consultant activity towards our clients – the trucking companies. We will try our best to help them put the obligatory records of drivers’ working hours in order, so they don’t suffer any legal consequences.
