Student Webinars “After college I will be…”

The French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Center for Career Development of Belgrade University, is organizing a series of interactive online workshops to facilitate students’ entry into the job market and their choice of career.

The first series of webinars started on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, and the topic was careers in project management.

The workshop, moderated by Ms. Ruža Veljović, was opened by the Director of the Career Development Center of the University of Belgrade, Ms. Dejana Lazić, who underlined that “a series of webinars organized in partnership between the University of Belgrade and the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce is an excellent example of the business community being involved in informing and counseling students. This gives the opportunity to students to meet employed alumni and directly receive information about the professional world from them, to resolve some career dilemmas, to have more realistic expectations, but also to gain insights into what skills are required and how to gain a competitive advantage in the labor market. The Center for Career Development is here to provide additional support to students 365 days per year through publishing vacancies on the sites www.razvojkarijere.bg.ac.rs, www.studentskapraksa.com, career counseling for students, simulations of job interviews and numerous other programs that have the goal to improve the employability of students at the University of Belgrade.”

The panelists were Mr. Nikola Markovic from Total, Mr. Ilija Ivetic from the Schneider Electric and Ms. Slavica Gajic from Energotehnika Juzna Backa. The panellists talked about project managers in various sectors, explained what knowledge is necessary for that profession and through an informal conversation with students managed to bring project management closer to them.
The other four workshops from the first segment will be held every Wednesday at 2 pm and will deal with occupations in the following areas: technology, marketing and communications, finance, and sales.

The next series of workshops will be organized in the fall of 2021 and will deal with the professions of the future.

Since its founding, the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce has been emphasizing the organization of events intended for students, in order for them to have a chance to work on themselves and to develop. Also, since its inception, the Chamber has worked closely with the University of Belgrade, and in 2018 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the University of Belgrade, which provides for the implementation of joint activities such as panel discussions, workshops and more, during which members of the Chamber can talk with students about current employment topics, skills, and skills that facilitate youth employment, as well as the global connectivity and the impact that new technologies will have on jobs in the future.
