The new season of Project Sport against diabetes – Free training for children with diabetes in five cities throughout Serbia Officially opened

Serbia is the leading country in Europe in the number of children under age of 14 who have diabetes. In order to contribute to improving the health of our youngest fellow citizens, the company Wiener Städtische insurance (WSO) is the second year in a row, supported the project Sport against diabetes (Type 1). Official opening of the new season of Project Sport against diabetes was organised in Belgrade on the 28th of February at the Senjak Sports Academy. At the opening, guests were also addressed by Borko Marinković, the initiator of the project and president of SK Vašarište, Dragana Nerandžić, Head of Marketing at WSO, Aleksandar Stanković, a doctor, a representative of ZSMSRS and Mateja Marinković, promoter of the project. Support for the project was given by the actress Anđelka Prpić, who led the program, as well as the head of Dejan Pantelić, who after the official opening, practiced together with the children.

“In Serbia, diabetes affects more than 8.2% of the population and the number of children under 14 years of age who suffer from this disease every year is growing. Therefore, our company decided to continue to support the project Sport against diabetes, in order to help these children to come up with specific measures, to advice rigid and disciplined way of life to continue and to develop and grow. Through this project, we allow children with diabetes to have a free weekly trainings of football, badminton and hopscotch sport. As in previous years, free training will be available for children in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, and this year we have expanded our project and Niš and Čačak, “said Dragana Nerandžić.

From now on, free training will be provided to elementary school students in three cities – Kragujevac, Novi Sad and Belgrade, with breaks during the school holidays, and at the following locations:
Belgrade – badminton, the sports center Slodes, Borska 92f and school sport in the Senjak Sports academy, Andre Nikolića 29;
Novi Sad – trainings in Školica sport OLEE, Novi Sad Fair and 37 Oasis sports center, Bulevar Evrope 17;
Kragujevac – a
little school of sport in the sports hall of the Faculty of Sciences, Radoja Domanovića 12


Since March, the training will be available to children in Čačak, and f
rom April on in Niš.
