Webinar “United Arab Emirates Space Mission to Mars” December 15, 2020 at 12 pm

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Belgrade in cooperation with Petnica Science Center is organizing a webinar “United Arab Emirates Space Mission to Mars” on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 12 pm (Belgrade time).

The webinar is going to show through a story of UAE Mars Mission how does the UAE as a state empower the youth and build new generations of young scientists and engineers.

The Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) was initiated to send a spacecraft to Mars ahead of the 50th anniversary of the UAE’s founding on December 2, 2021. Hope Probe was successfully launched on July 20, 2020 from Tanegeshima Space Center in Japan. By focusing on space exploration, Emirati leaders hope to inspire a new generation of young people to pursue careers in the sciences, stimulating competition in a region beset by numerous challenges.
The Hope orbiter is scheduled to arrive at Mars in February, entering an elliptical orbit around the equator that takes it between 20,000 and 40,000 kilometers (12,500 and 25,000 miles) from the planet’s surface. Flying higher than previous Martian satellites, the mission will provide unique insights into the planet’s global climate patterns.

Speakers on the webinar are:
H.E. Mr. Mubarak Saeed Burshaid Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the UAE to Serbia;
MSc Khalid Badri, Instrument Science Engineer, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre;
MSc Stanislav Milošević, Teaching assistant; Department of Astronomy; Faculty of Mathematics, Belgrade.
Moderator: Nikola Božić, Program Director of Petnica Science Center.
