AFA Talent Development Forum, June 10th at 10am

AFA Talent Development Forum in 3D environment powered by Ikea is created as a unique event aiming to connect various stakeholders and raise important topics regarding talents of today and tomorrow.

The objective of establishing such event, that will be organized on an annual basis, is to gather relevant community to work around challenges young people, companies and overall societies are facing due to rapidly changing needs of economy and imperfections of education and labor market.

The central topic of the AFA Talent Development Forum 2021 will be “Talent paradox”. On one hand, there is an increasing “war for talents” (McKinsey’s coinage) as companies are utilizing different strategies to attract the best talents, while on the other hand, there is a “waste of talent” due to inefficient and ineffective recruitment and retainment practices, but also education system. If we do not use our talents in the best possible way, we will face even larger brain drain, a need to import talents and poorer economy results.

AFA Talent Development Forum on June 10th at 10am will gather as many as 60 speakers including eminent business experts, university professors, ambassadors, representatives of state institutions, NGOs, extracurricular educators. Besides them, perspective students and talents who study in Serbia and abroad will also take part in discussions. Award-winning talents will have the opportunity to speak to relevant experts regarding their future.

Discussions will include a wide range of experiences and perspectives:

Business perspective – speakers from companies IKEA, NCR, A1, Delhaize, Addiko, Bambi, AIK, Telenor, Deloitte, IDC, NIS, Infostud

State perspective -Ministry of Education and Tačka povratka

Foreign macro perspective:

  • Norman Giles, Ambassador of Canada to Serbia
  • Urs Schmid, Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia
  • Mayaan Ben Tura, Deputy ambassador of Israel to Serbia
  • Ibrahim Al Darmaki, Deputy ambassador of UAE to Serbia

Academical perspective – professors of Belgrade University, Niš University, universities of Stockholm and Princeton) and finally the perspective of NGOs and extracurricular educators -UNDP, Vojvodina ICT cluster, AmCham, BOŠ, Krojačeva škola, Kampster, Crater studio.

Furthermore, the audience will have the opportunity to hear how talents are developing in one of the world’s most successful companies. Keynote speaker Sara del Fabro, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer for Ikea South East Europe, will share her personal career path from a starting position to a chief executive position in Ikea.

Talent paradox, the best talent development practices, jobs and careers of the future, skills for the 21st century, empowering cooperation between universities and businesses – all of these will be discussed on various panels of the first AFA Talent Development Forum. The aim is not only to speak up about talent challenges, but to gather a community which will continuously work towards talent prosperity.
