As part of the celebrations of 70 Years of India’s Independence, Embassy of India, Belgrade, in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi, organised a classical dance concert by “Kadamb Kathak” on September 20, 2016 at Belgrade.
Kathak is one of the major forms of Indian classical Dance which evolved emphasising rhythmic foot movements with music. The dance production called “Bahukon” meaning multifarious was divided into six parts which gave a complete visual experience to the largely young Serbian audience. The audience described the performance as “fantastic” and “uplifting” from a country (India) “with the biggest deposit of happiness in the world”.
The Concert was attended by over 500 Serbian nationals, senior officials of the Government, civil society, cultural institutions, media, renowned personalities from the fields of music, art, films, students etc. apart from members of the diplomatic corps and international organisation. The prominent daily Serbian newspaper “Politika”, Radio & TV of Serbia and other media organisations carried visual coverage of the performance.
