A Francophone spring in Serbia

 

In March 2017, La Francophonie is celebrated in Belgrade, Čačak, Gornji Milanovac, Kladovo, Kragujevac, Kuršumlija, Niš, Novi Sad, Pančevo, Požarevac and many other cities. Throughout March, the Facebook page dedicated to La Francophonie in Serbia, will integrate the many other events that will be organised, notably at the initiative of schools and lycées.

This program is the result of the work of the French-speaking Embassies in Belgrade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Information (as well as the cultural institutions that depend on this Ministry), the Centre francophone de réussite universitaire of The University of Belgrade, as well as many other partners. The French Institute of Serbia is delighted once again this year with having animated the work of the Francophone family in Serbia. For one month, the vitality and creativity of all the countries of the French-speaking family will be honoured, notably with the arrival of a Canadian slammer or a Moroccan virtuoso pianist. There will also be an emphasis on learning French at the elementary school level for more than 100,000 pupils in Serbia: the opportunity to participate in numerous cultural, scientific, interdisciplinary projects, leverage to acquire new skills, Gateway to bilingual education in Serbia (8 bilingual sections exist, from Novi Sad to Niš, from Valjevo to Pirot). Nearly 900 pupils in 23 cities will pass the DELF school on 1 and 2 April 2017. The universities of Kragujevac and Niš have just joined the network of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie. More than ever, studying French, communicating, thinking, creating, dreaming, seeking, innovating, undertaking in French… offers new opportunities for the youth of Serbia.
