DUBAI EXPO 2020 – “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”

The Republic of Serbia will present itself at this World Exhibition as the host of the national pavilion with an area of almost 2,000 square meters, located in the thematic district called “Mobility”

WORLD EXHIBITION – GATHERING WORLD IN ONE PLACE

The first World Expo took place in 1851, and since that time, many of the greatest achievements of the modern world have been first presented to a global audience at a World Expo, making it an event that cannot be compared to any other. Technologies and discoveries without which we cannot imagine modern life – such as the telephone, the first computer or Tesla’s city lighting based on the AC system – were presented to the world public for the first time at some of these exhibitions. Some of the most fascinating buildings of our civilization were built for the needs of the Exhibition, only to become a lasting historical heritage, among them the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Atomium in Brussels. Therefore, the history of the Expo also represents the history of the development of human thought and human progress.

The World Exhibition was conceived in the middle of the 19th century out of the need to gather all ideas, cultural goods and industrial achievements of the world under one roof.

The World Exhibition is, indeed, a gathering of nations and peoples in one place, with the aim of developing mutual relations through the quest for a vision for the progress of humanity.

World Expo is still a global event, a unique concept dedicated to improving people’s lives, i.e., finding solutions to the challenges faced by humanity. The “World Expo” connects countries and people, promotes science and innovation, thus leaving a clearer vision of the future and a lasting legacy to humanity.

As a part of the global scene, Serbia has been proudly presenting its tradition, achievements, culture and economy at the World Exhibition since 1885.

DUBAI EXPO 2020 – WORLDWIDE CENTER OF IDEAS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Expo 2020 (Arabic: إكسبو 2020‎), the World Exhibition hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, originally was scheduled for 20 October 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be organized starting from 1 October 2021 till 31 March 2022.

This will be the first Expo in history to be staged in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region and the Arab world. Expo’s theme is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, and it will include three subthemes: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability, each with its own pavilion.

More than 190 countries from all over the world have confirmed their participation in the World Expo in Dubai that will be located in the Dubai South district spreading over an area of 4.38 km2.

In response to Expo’s theme, the countries will demonstrate their solutions to the modern challenges of humanity, which connect, move and make the present more interesting, and the future more optimistic and sustainable.

This is also a unique opportunity for the participating countries to show their industrial and economic achievements, their touristic offerings, and to present significant elements of their society, culture, tradition and history.

“SERBIA CREATES IDEAS – Inspired by the past, shaping the future”

From 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, the Republic of Serbia, together with more than 190 countries from all over the world, will participate in the prestigious world exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai. The theme of Serbia’s participation in the World Exhibition is “SERBIA CREATES IDEAS – Inspired by the past, shaping the future”.

The Republic of Serbia will present itself at this World Exhibition as the host of the national pavilion with an area of almost 2,000 square meters, located in the thematic district called “Mobility”.

The exhibition setting of our pavilion will show that modern Serbia is the natural heir to the Neolithic Vinča Culture. Vinča changed the way humans lived and thrived and Modern Serbia will be presented as the natural successor its supreme artistry, technology, innovation, trade and peaceful coexistence.

It will further demonstrate that the Serbia of the future is driven by the creative and innovative ideas of a number of exciting and inventive individuals, companies and organizations.

The pavilion will present a unique dual platform for displaying Serbia’s stories – a physical pavilion in Dubai and a virtual/digital pavilion online – that integrates timeless and limitless content with real space. The pavilion is a “time capsule” uncovering not only Vinča and modern Serbia, but also ways of living harmoniously for the future.

Serbia’s Expo participation will be rolled out across a number of activations, initiatives and events under the brand message SERBIA CREATES IDEAS. This includes the purpose-built Serbia Pavilion in the heart of the Expo, a comprehensive B2B programme that connects Serbian businesses with UAE, MENA and worldwide counterparts, G2G and G2B activities, Serbian business hubs in key sites across Dubai, and a whole range of other events, festivals and activities that promote Serbia as a forward-facing nation with innovation, ingenuity and creativity embedded in its DNA.

By engaging and embedding Serbian content across all of Expo’s programmes, we will position Serbia as an Open, Collaborative, Cooperative and Fun, Creative, Innovative and Resourceful nation.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

By participating in Expo 2020 Dubai, the Republic of Serbia wants to present and promote the Serbian business community on the international scene.
