HBA awarded scholarships for learning of Greek language to the students of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology

The Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, in cooperation with the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, and with the blessing of His Holiness, the Serbian Patriarch Mr. Porphyry awarded scholarships for learning of Greek language to students of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade. Students will attend a four-month course at the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, which will run from March to June 2022.

This initiative represents the intention of the Hellenic Economic Association of Serbia to strengthen and improve cultural and spiritual ties between Greece and Serbia, and on this occasion, a scholarship awards ceremony was organized in the amphitheatre of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Belgrade, on Monday, February 28, 2022.

The event was attended by a Bishop of Toplica Jerotej, the Dean of Faculty of Orthodox Theology, Mr. Zoran Ranković and the Consul of Greece, Mr. Constantinos Androulakis.

Their attendance at the ceremony was a great honour for HBA.

In his address, the President of HBA, Stylianos Zakof, said: “Thanks to the valuable support of our members, the HBA promotes Greek language and culture in friendly Serbia and at the same time implements humanitarian and social initiatives, one of which is today’s gathering.” Mr. Zakof emphasized: “The ties between our countries are unbreakable. History, culture, Orthodoxy, but also good bilateral and economic relations confirm the Greek-Serbian friendship and brotherly relations of our nations. Aiming to promote and strengthen the cultural and spiritual ties between Greece and Serbia, we decided to support students from the Orthodox Theological Faculty in learning the Greek language and we believe that, in this way, they will actively contribute to the further strengthening of our friendship.

Bishop Jerotej of Toplica, Dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty, Mr. Zoran Ranković, Consul of Greece Mr. Konstantinos Androulakis, as well as the director of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, Mr. Njegoš Petrović, also addressed the audience, welcoming this initiative and confirming strong ties between the two nations.

The Greek choir’s Ellinofonia magnificent performance of the songs of Greek authors brightened the ceremony.
