Mol Serbia: Free-of-Charge Child Car Seat Education Sessions

In the continuation of years-long cooperation between MOL Serbia and the Road Traffic Safety Agency, during the summer months, MOL service stations will host free-of-charge education sessions and safety checkups for child car seats.

Within the project “Games are for children, children’s lives are not a game”, parent drivers can get help about the proper use of child car seats by a Road Traffic Safety Agency instructor at 10 MOL service stations in June and July, and an opportunity to check whether their child car seat has been properly placed in their vehicle.

“Safety and education of customers about responsible and safe driving are one of the priorities of MOL Serbia. When a child car seat is properly placed in a vehicle, a child will be protected in case of a traffic accident. We are grateful to our partners from the Road Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Serbia for their years-long support and cooperation to do everything in our power to enable our customers to enjoy safe driving with their children,” said MOL Serbia CEO Milenko Janković.

“Children represent one of the most vulnerable categories of traffic participants, primarily because they do not have developed psychophysical abilities as adults do. Children do not have enough experience or knowledge about safe participation in traffic. The adopted rules of responsible behaviour with children are especially important for children pedestrians and children cyclists, while for children who are passengers in a vehicle, responsible behaviour and developed awareness of the importance of responsible behaviour in traffic of their parents are equally important. The percentage of use of protective systems for children up to 3 years is about 70%, while for children from 4 to 12 years of age it is about 48%. Of the total number of children transported, as many as 90% of them are transported incorrectly. In order for children to be safer as passengers in a vehicle, the Road Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Serbia (ABS)  is implementing a series of preventive activities that should influence parents to change their attitudes and behaviour. The ABS is implementing the campaign “Games are for children, children’s lives are not a game” in cooperation with MOL company in 10 local self-governments at the national level. Citizens will be able to check whether the child is safely placed in the children’s car seat free of charge and to participate in a prize quiz. This is just one in a series of preventive activities that the Agency is implementing towards the most vulnerable category of traffic participants, and those are certainly children,” Road Traffic Safety Agency Director Duško Pešić reiterated.

In order to embark on a trip to summer destinations safely, in June and July, parent drivers will have an opportunity to check their knowledge about the proper use of child car seats and get all necessary information from 4 PM to 7 PM at MOL service stations in Višnjica (Belgrade), Aranđelovac, Loznica, Subotica 1, Novi Sad 2 (Piramida), Pančevo, Kraljevo, Kragujevac 1, Jagodina and Sremska Mitrovica.

“This is the 4th consecutive year of the project “Games are for children, children’s lives are not a game” in cooperation with the Road Traffic Safety Agency because we believe it is important for drivers, our customers, to be safe in traffic. Education plays a key role in prevention in order to avoid possible accidents,” MOL Serbia Retail Sector Director Ana Pavlović added.
