Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo

The First Worldwide Italian Cuisine Week carries on the themes developed successfully by EXPO Milano 2015 and gathered in the ‘’Milan paper’’: quality, sustainability, culture, food security, right to food, education, identity, territory, biodiversity. The project is included in the action-plan to support the agri-food sector and the Italian cuisine, so-called ‘’Food Act’’, presented by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (MIPAAF) in July 2015 on behalf of the Italian Government, and in the activities foreseen by the memorandum of understanding for the promotion abroad of quality Italian cuisine, signed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), MIPAAF and Ministry of Education (MIUR) on March 15, 2016.

The Worldwide Italian Cuisine Week will be an event aimed at celebrating Italy’s incredibly varied regional cuisine and food traditions with a wide array of events promoting culinary culture and flavors to millions of consumers worldwide.

The Week takes place under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and it is organized by the network of Italian Embassies and Italian Cultural Institutes around the world in collaboration with all the Italian Trade Agencies, Italian Chambers of Commerce, the Accademia della Cucina Italiana, as well as top Italian restaurants, chefs, wine distributors and producers, all of whom are true ambassadors of Italian gastronomic excellence abroad.

The rich program of events includes thematic menus, gala dinners, seminars, food and wine tastings as well as film screenings illustrating how Italian food has become part of the history of cinema.

With Italy ranking first in Europe in quality certified food products and being the world’s top wine producer, the International Week of Italian Cuisine is a well-deserved occasion to celebrate the richness and excellence of Italy’s culinary traditions.
